One Youth Asian Youth Forum ,Manila, 16-19 May 2014

The National Youth Commission of Phlippines hosted the Asian Youth Council Meeting last May 16 to 19, 2014. In line with this, they will hold the One Asia Youth Forum on May 18, 2014 as a component of the event.  The theme for the said activity will be Post-2015 Asian Youth: Prospects and Challenges.

The One Asia Youth Forum is a gathering of youth leaders from across the Asian region and the Philippines. In this forum, the four thematic topics of Education, Employment, Health and Youth Participation will be discussed.


These topics were identified as major areas of youth concern in the Asian context.  There were paper presentations on the four thematic areas, with experts on the field serving as resource persons. The facilitators came from the recent 10th Parliament of Youth Leaders, who had also used the same four topics to develop policy recommendations and resolutions.


“We hope that during the activity, our local participants will be able to gauge what our country needs to focus on for wholistic youth development. It will also be a good venue for best practices sharing among the countries represented” said Commissioner Gio Tingson, the National Organizing Committee Chairman of the Asian Youth Council Meeting.

The AYC delegates, who are leaders of national youth organizations in their home countries,  teamed up with Filipino youth leaders to come up with a policy agenda and action plan post-2015, the year when the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will be assessed.

The final output for the said activity were a manifesto of cooperation, where the various Asian youth organizations  pledged their support to youth initiatives in the four identified areas. The signing of the manifesto with all Asian youth leaders in attendance highlighted of the said event which witnessed by President of Asian Youth COuncil.
